Brant Russell selected as President and CEO of Ascension Providence Hospital 
After an extensive and thorough national search, it is my pleasure to announce that
Brant Russell, MBA, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, has been selected President and CEO of Ascension Providence Hospital, Southfield and Novi campuses. Brant will begin his
new role on Sept. 21 and will report to me.

Brant currently serves as the regional Chief Operating Officer overseeing Ascension
St. John Hospital and Ascension River District Hospital. In the seven years Brant has been with Ascension Michigan, he has proven to be a transformational leader in today’s challenging healthcare environment. Brant possesses a keen understanding of operations and he strives for excellence in all of his endeavors. He is adept at collaborating with the medical staff to improve clinical quality, safety and service, and is passionate about Ascension’s Mission to improve the patient experience. Brant is also participating in the Ascension Executive Ministry Leadership formation program.

Brant brings a wealth of operational, clinical and strategic experience of running multiple hospitals within matrix structures. Prior to joining Ascension, Brant was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Summa Barberton and Wadsworth Hospitals, part of Summa Healthcare in Akron, Ohio. Brant also served as System Director of Emergency/Trauma Service Lines for Summa Healthcare, and has held nursing leadership roles with Fairview Hospital, part of the Cleveland Clinic Health System, and Metrohealth Medical Center.  

Brant is excited to meet the medical staff and the dedicated team of caregivers, support associates and volunteers at Ascension Providence Hospital. A schedule for meet and greet sessions with Brant will be shared with leaders in the coming weeks.

I have begun working with Dr. Kevin Grady, President and CEO, Ascension St. John Hospital and Ascension River District Hospital, on a plan to backfill the COO role for these hospitals.
